Luxembourg winters can be cold and gray, but that doesn’t mean staying indoors! Here are our favorite winter activities to keep toddlers happy and active.
Indoor Activities
1. Badplaatz Swimming Pools
Indoor pools with warm baby pools. Perfect for rainy days. Locations in Bonnevoie, Kirchberg, and more.
2. Soft Play Centers
Kidsplanet in Foetz and Funplanet offer indoor playgrounds with slides, ball pits, and climbing structures.
3. Library Story Time
Luxembourg City Library offers free story sessions in multiple languages on Wednesday mornings.
4. Museums
The National Museum of Natural History (Natur Musée) has interactive exhibits perfect for toddlers.
Outdoor Activities
1. Winter Walks
Bundle up and explore! Toddlers love splashing in puddles and collecting pinecones. Try the Bambësch forest or Grünewald.
2. Christmas Markets
In December, visit the Christmas markets in Luxembourg City, Esch, and other towns. Go during the day when less crowded.
3. Ice Skating
Outdoor rink at Place Guillaume II (from age 3+ with parent support).
4. Sledding
When it snows, head to Parc Municipal or any hilly park for sledding fun.
Winter Activity Tips
• Dress in layers – remove layers if they get too warm
• Bring snacks and water – toddlers get hungry quickly
• Keep activities short (30-60 minutes)
• Go early in the day for fewer crowds
• Have realistic expectations – some days you’ll just go to the bakery and that’s okay!
